Written by Landon Livernois

February 13, 2024

Papua New Guinea, you’re up next! This is article #3 of Star Countries. The Oceanic country is next on our list of countries, and there are some fascinating stories to tell. From many languages to islands independence, it'll all be here.

Size

Papua New Guinea is 463,000 square kilometers (about the area of California), which is around 179 thousand square miles. The nation is the second largest in Oceania, only behind Australia. The population is around 10.4 million people (about half the population of New York) according to Worldometers.info.

Weird Stories

An amazing thing about the nation is the amount of diversity in languages. According to Ethnologue, there are 840 spoken languages in Papua New Guinea. The newest country will also come out of Papua New Guinea. The island of Bougainville will gain independence from Papua New Guinea in 2027.

Flag and Map

There is a lot going on in this flag, but I like it. It will get a 4.1 out of 5.

Conclusion

Papua New Guinea has some great characteristics, and much diversity. I'll end on this, what do you think of the Papua New Guinea flag?

What do you think of the Papua New Guinea flag?

  • I love it!
