Motivation and how to keep it

By Granger Neil, December 5th

Have you ever done something bad that you know you were not supposed to do? Have you ever been lazy? You had a chore but did not do it, or you were hesitant to do anything. You just wanted to keep “relaxing” more. Sure, it is fine to relax after an exhausting day of work or school, or after playing an aggressive sport or activity, but it is important to keep in shape and do things to the best of your ability. You may simply not be motivated. Here are simple tips and tricks to stay motivated to do things for your own good.

Grind

Most kids have chores to do around the house, you probably aren’t any different. Let us say you must throw away the trash. You always would just put it outside the door but not by the garbage can. This is how you change that. One day you walk to the trash bin and put the trash in the bin. Now what you do is do this the next time, and the next time, and the next time until it no longer becomes an annoying chore. It just becomes a rhythm, a flow that becomes a common habit. Keep in mind that the one day you stop doing it, it becomes hard to get back into it.

Be Positive

Hate homework? I will tell you; I am no different. So, there you are grabbing the paper. Your thinking ugh or dang it! This is because you hate homework. You get ready to go home happy to do your hobbies when nope! You get out the paper but cannot seem to get motivated to do it. Here is what you do. The next time you get homework, think I may not like this, but I have to do it. This will get you in a better mood. This gets you to do the paper and you can think better or more clearly. This mindset will help you get boring tasks and chores quicker.

Do not hold off

Relating to the homework and other chores, tasks, and timing moments, do not wait to the last minute to complete something. Do not procrastinate! Sure, the paper is due in 3 weeks but here’s the thing. You may think, oh I know I will finish that or that is easy, I can do that later. Or that is hard I do not want to do that right now. However, over time, you will say that every day until its due the next day and you are not even close to finishing or even worse, you have not even begun. This is why you should use the time that you have wisely. Plus, if you get it done early, you can enjoy time to relax after you are done with it. Ever heard the saying, “It’s good to end on a good note”? Well, that applies here. It is better to work/ do harder stuff and enjoy later than to, enjoy now, and do work/ do harder stuff later.

Conclusion

These tips should help you remain focused and motivated! Try these tips to stay motivated through boring or unpleasant tasks, chores, etc. Hopefully these tricks will work for you! It is important to stay active, do important tasks, and maintain your health.
