2/26/19 Conflict

Part 1:  For 15 minutes, brainstorm characters, setting, and conflict.  Write down your brainstorming ideas in whatever organization method/format you choose.

Part 2:  For 30 minutes, draft just the conflict of the story.  You do not need to focus on describing the setting or developing characters outside of its importance to creating the conflict.

2/7/19 Library Visit

After looking at published examples of the areas you want to work on, reflect on the experience:  What did you notice?  What do you want to emulate?  What do you want to do differently?  What did you learn?  What do you wonder?

1/25/19 Microstories

Write at least three microstories, each one 50 words or less.

1/11/19 Writing Reflection and Five Areas to Improve

Part I  Reflect on your speedwriting exercise.  Specifically, which types of writing came easily to you, which ones were enjoyable, which ones were the most difficult, which types of writing were not represented that you would like to improve upon or practice more because of how much you enjoy it or whatever reason you have.
Part 2  I want you to come up with 5 areas of writing you want to work towards improving for the rest of the school year.  Our workshops will be dedicated to those areas, and you will build your semester around them.  Choose these areas based on your level of challenge, your interest level, and your enjoyment of that type of writing.  The more specific you get, the more targeted your practice can become.
