The history of The Hiroshima Peace Memorial

The Hiroshima Peace Memorial is a site at the location where the atomic bomb was dropped in 1945. The memorial means many things as the site whc.unesco.org shows "Not only is it a stark and powerful symbol of the most destructive force ever created by humankind, it also expresses the hope for world peace and the ultimate elimination of all nuclear weapons.” People who look at it see a mix of things like a fear of it happening again or seeing hope in its structure. Naturally, the building shows the bombing as a horror in the dark contrast to the daylight it looks like a structure made for a king.

The Hiroshima Peace Memorial also has nicknames like the Genbaku Dome, Atomic bomb dome, or A-Bomb dome. The nicknames show how people think the memorial is for a city that survived an atomic bomb that ended a war and saved and killed many lives. “During the second world war, at 8:15a.m. on 6 August 1945, the first atomic bomb to be used in war was dropped on Hiroshima.” The UNESCO site states that it was new and a groundbreaking historical event. Bombings are very destructive, and this bombing was enormously powerful and miles away from the bombing the people were still killed, and homes were destroyed the people that live there are lucky that the peace memorial was not destroyed.

The memorial needs to be cared for and the people are happy to oblige. The UNESCO site shows how the people really care for this building,” A city beautification plan was developed by Hiroshima City that calls for this area to remain an attractive space appropriate to a symbol of the International Peace Culture City.” The plan that had been developed still works its way through the hard years of natural disasters and other weathering conditions.
