Mount Everest, the Tallest Mountain in the World?

Updated: Feb 22

Mount Everest is said to be the largest mountain in the world, but is that saying true? Mount Everest is the tallest mountain above sea level, but not from base to peak. According to the article '30 Things You Always Believed That Aren't True', "Mount Everest is the tallest mountain above sea level, but the tallest mountain from base to peak is actually Mauna Kea..."(Catron). Mount Everest 's height does have some truth to it and is one of the tallest mountains in the world but not the tallest one.

Mauna Kea is actually the tallest mountain in the world. Mauna Kea is located in Hawaii. It is about a mile taller than Mount Everest. Mauna Kea is an inactive volcano that measures up to 33,500ft.
